Tunisia Visa for German Citizens

Requirements from Germany

As a result of friendly relations between Germany and Tunisia, German citizens are permitted to visit Tunisia visa-free for up to four months. Any German passport-holder who wishes to stay longer than four months, or who is traveling for business or study, needs to apply for a Tunisia visa.

Currently, the Tunisian visa requirements for Germany include an in-person visit to the Tunisian consulates in either Berlin or Munich. However, a brand new online visa application service will be launched by the Tunisian government in 2019. This will allow travelers to apply for a Tunisian visa online before they make any travel arrangements.

The new visa process will make it easier and quicker to acquire the Tunisia visa for German citizens. It is also hoped that it will decrease waiting times for the visa to be processed and prevent overcrowding at the Tunisian border. Queues at border control should be significantly reduced once the new visa is introduced.

There are three easy steps in the application process:

  • Complete the application form online, including all necessary documentation
  • Pay the visa fee using a debit or credit card
  • Receive the approved visa by email

There will be frequent updates to this site as more details of the visa are released, so check back frequently if you are planning to travel to Tunisia soon.

Tunisia Visa Application for German Citizens

Germans and other EU citizens can currently enter Tunisia visa-free as tourists, as can citizens of 97 other countries which have agreements with Tunisia. Visitors who need a Tunisia visa are required to apply in person, but this will be unnecessary after the online visa becomes available later this year.

German citizens applying for a visa will need to meet the requirements for the Tunisia eVisa. This means providing some vital information, including:

  • Your name as it appears on your passport
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • The date on which your passport expires
  • Some security-related questions

Tunisian authorities take no responsibility for delays incurred as a result of mistakes or inaccurate information. It is therefore important for the applicant to fill in all details carefully in order to receive their Tunisia evisa in time to travel.

What Documents Do I Need to Apply for a Tunisian Visa?

The new online visa application form will be easy to complete, and should only take a few minutes to fill in. Applicants will need to enter some basic information and attach copies of several supporting documents. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Valid passport from an eligible country
  • Credit or debit card to pay the visa fee
  • Current email address where the applicant can be contacted

The passport used in the application must be valid for the length of the applicant’s stay in Tanzania. If your passport is close to its expiry date, you may need to renew it before you apply for the online visa. Tunisia does not have any passport requirements that involve an additional validity beyond the time the traveler leaves the country.

Travelers do not need to be in their country of residence to apply. They can use the Tunisia visa application online from anywhere in the world.

Once the online visa application has been registered and approved, the applicant will be sent their eVisa via email. It is advisable for anyone traveling to Tunisia to print a copy of the eVisa to present to the border authorities when they arrive at the airport.

Applicants are not advised to book flights or accommodation until after their visa has been granted. There are no guarantees that each visa will be approved and the final decision will be made by the Tunisian immigration department.

The length of validity of the online visa has not yet been finalized, and no decision has yet been made on the details of the Tunisia tourist visa fee. Please check this website frequently for regular updates on the duration of the visa and any other rules and regulations announced by the Tunisian authorities.
